Here are a few photos of my favorite travel buddy MR CRAIG.
He is one of the only people daring enough to room with me and not afraid to do his drunken Yoga at 2.45 am and tell me how in shape he is.
James is down to skate anything and has been putting it down for years.
After a few brutal arm injuries James is back on the streets and ripping harder than ever.
If you are ever up in Brea and need a deck go to Liberty Board Shop.
Who knows you may be able to catch a game of skate with James in the parking lot.

Skateboarding is not like riding a bike.

As I have gotten older I have lost almost all my ability to ride these crazy boards.

I actually get worse by the second.

Somedays I feel ok but most of the time a regular manual just does not work.

I have so much fun when I skate now, sometimes it feels like the first time (especially if I am hungover)

I even like taking a hard slam(which happens every session) so I can dust myself off and try to make what I was trying.

I have delusions of grandeur as I am always around the worlds best skateboarding and skaters and it gets me so hyped to try shit it's funny.

My new motto is relax you old fuck.

A few years ago I got to meet Ghostface for the Wu-Tang and talk to him for a while about music skateboarding and how to dress like a pimp.
He was super cool and pumped on the Wu-Weiss Tattoo and skaters always backing the Wu. When we finished talking I noticed my friend Pete Thompson shooting photos at the party and asked him to snap a flick.
It came out great we look like brothers.

A few years alater I saw Slim Thug at the lobby of my hotel but I was shitfaced and barely on the verge at speech but I had to get a photo.
I did not have a camera and asked Gailea if he would shoot it on his camera phone.
I rolled up asked Slim if we could shoot a flick and went back to our drinks to check it.
I was wasted but it was to blurry so I asked someone else we were with to try again.I marched back over and asked Slim again.
After seeing that next photo did not work out I must have tried the same photo tens times on peoples cell phones with Slim Thug looking at me like get this crazy ass lanky white dude away from me.
Finally I got a real camera and got the photo that was not blurry but my face was.
He was like"this fools loves Coors Light"
When I woke up I saw the photo and I look like such an asshole it was perfect.
My favorite part is that I am cross eyed double fisting the Silver Bullet.

Coors Light VS Corona Light

This has been a raging debate for the last year or so.
When I first came to California 100 years ago I thought the US beer of choice was Budweiser.
I would drink it every chance I got.
As I got older and the hangovers got worse I noticed that they were borderline unbearable.
One night I went to the store and for some reason got a twelve of Coors Light.I drank them all and when I woke up there was little or no hangover at all.A new era had begun,I told everyone my hangover theory and converted many Bud drinkers so that Coors Light became the new beer of choice and is still the popular choice for me and my senior citizen friends to this day.
About a year ago I picked up a 12 of Corona Light inspired my my man James Craig's unquenchable thirst for Corona.
Since then it has been a back in fourth process.
Coors Light is cheaper at 14.99 a 20 of Bottles and has the Ice cold taste straight from the rookies but Corona Light has a clear golden look that makes you say man this beer actually looks healthy,the only downfall is the $28.99 for 24 price tag.
Either way when you want to pound some beers and save yourself a brutal hangover go for one of these delicious light beers.
And if your friends say you are a pussy for drinking light beer tell them to go fuck themselves.

So last night we went to see ACDC in Anaheim at the Pond.
Me Jason and designated driver Dan Opyc(not sure how the fuck you go to see ACDC sober but thanks for the ride Dan)
The place was packed with dirts from many decades ready to Rock.
We got in and started pounding ten dollar beers and got ready for the show.
Once it started the band went off.
True hard Rock and Roll and if you ever get the chane to see ACDC perform you HAVE to GO.
Angus is so fucking amazing to watch play it is unexplainable.

A classic time in skating-TAMPA the early years

Fun times.
Back in 93 skateboarding was a rough ride if you were looking to pay the bills.

This ad reminds me of how much fun could be had earning a whopping $300 bucks a month.

This was just after vert skating had fallen off the face of the earth and street skating began to take over the world.

With all the vert ramps gone Brian Shaefer, Leonard Trubia and Paul Zitzer wanted a ramp to skate so they got a warehouse , gathered what ever money they had and built a place for them and their friends to ride.
It was a private ramp and donations were appreciated. Sooner than later a few minor street things were put next to the ramp and all the Florida street skaters would come and skate.
The warehouse quickly became too small for the building sessions and the guys took the next step and got a bigger warehouse right next to Ybor in Tampa(a perfect location to focus on skating). I am not sure if it was ever meant to be anything more than a place for friends to skate but as soon as the new warehouse opened people started migrating from all over the states including a heavy North of the border migration from Toronto Canada.
The vert ramp was moved into the corner so that a proper (and probably the first) real street course could happen. The original pyramid that they built was the best one ever. To this day it is still the staple design for a perfect pyramid(Fluke or ahead of it's time design by a bunch of vert skaters)?
For anyone that was there during those days it was absolutely awesome.
Street and Vert skateboarding took huge progressive leaps forward with new shit being invented on the daily by the likes of Mike Frazier, Bo Turner, Mike Daher, Brian(late shove it) Shaefer, Leonard Tubia, Scott Conklin, Justin Bokma, John Montessi, Paul Zitzer, Brian Howard, Tas Pappas, Ben Pappas RIP, Matt Milligan, Kenny Hughes, and so many more.
Partying also took some serious leaps forwards, back and sideways as a few bars in Ybor offered $5 all you can drink. The proximity of the skatepark to Ybor city was a perfect and unperfected situation for skateboarders.
It kicked the shit out of all of us for years good and bad but without Brian and those guys taking the initiative to make something happen back then I do not know what skateboarding would be like today.
They gave a lot of people somewhere to come together and skate at a time when no one else would or for the most part could... we were all too drunk.
So hats off to all the SPOT crew and for all those who have not been there to skate make the SPOT in Tampa one of your travel destinations in March or December to catch the Am and Pro or anytime for that matter.

Olympic Gold beer can

One of my favorite things about a trip to China was this massive beer can we would pass on our daily skate sessions.
I love the way they use an aspiring Olympic gymnast for their marketing campaign.
I wonder how many people drive by a day a get a sudden urge to chase their dream of one day becoming an Olympic gold medalist and go straight to the bar to start training with some delicious Shinzing Beer and then wake up the next morning completely hungover and have forgotten about seeing the sign in the first place until they see the next day like it was the first time ever and do it all again?
Now that it what i call great subliminal marketing!

Me,Jake Brown and Jason Shelton went to check out this galactic get together and man that place is fucking amazing.
When we arrived we found out tickets were $50 bucks a pop but we noticed a gathering out front of Imperial Stormtroopers so we just joined the march and strolled right in.
Once inside there we so many die hard freaks wearing home made costumes that were better than the original.
We saw original casts members actual ship from the film and plenty of nostalgic stuff that brought back a lot of good memory's.
Jake wanted a photo of Bobba Fett's dad Jango Fett and Jake happened to be wearing some random weed shirt and Jango waisted no time in asking Jake "where the fucking buds mate'? Good stuff.
If you like Star Wars and this thing ever roles into your town it is a must see.
Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) and Anthony Daniels (C3PO) were there signing autographs but the line was from the convention center to the Forest Moon of Endor.
I actual got to meet that guy that was Jabba the Hut's right hand man(a personal lifelong goal of mine) and saw Chewbacca cruising by minus his furry outfit.
To top it all off we went to the bar(a water down version of the cantina in Mos Eisely on Tattooine).
I got to have a few drinks with at least 10 different lonely Luke Skywalkers who had all struck out looking for trim at the convention and did not have anyone tell me they did not like my face.
After an long day of checking out some of the coolest stuff from all the movies we loaded up our land speeder and headed for a galaxy far far away...West Hollywood

Sure when I was a kid I loved GI JOE so when I heard they were making the film there was nothing stopping me from seeing the movie.

A few warning signs that could have saved me a few hours

-Those hyper suits they were jumping around in the trailer

- Any Wayans Brother other than Damon as a lead role

-That guy that plays the lead of Gi Joe(he is all shit summer blockbuesters)

So anyway the movie was filled with non stop over the top special affects that never slow down for a second and left any hope of a good character build or story down the toilet.

It sucks that they could have not embraced the characters a little more and went the opposite direction and built some guts to this flick.

It is obvious that the kids will love the explosions and excitment but the only remotly scary thing in the movie was Snake Eyes and what he was wearing.

He looked like a creepy bondage dude.

They should have named him Snake Eye

Anyways if you like Gi Joe go see for yourself but I am giving this a real american zero

Jake Brown is one of the funniest people I have ever met.

I am sure by know you know about the slam but one thing that stuck out in my mind about that day was right when they took Jake outside the arena to examine him the first thing he did was light up a smoke.

Jake puffed away and asked the astonished doctor if he would still be able to go out to the party that night.

Gotta love shit like that.
